Hopes and Dreams Inc. is dedicated to delivering self-sustaining, poverty breaking solutions through micro enterprise and water development projects in remote and rural parts of Africa and India.
Hopes and Dreams focus on two key areas:
Training Online Support for Youth Suicide Intervention – Adelaide
In 2 Life have been established since 2001 and have over twelve years experience in the youth sector. They have a strong track record in the creation and delivery of programs that support marginalised youth in Australia. Their staff and volunteers are very experienced in youth issues and the needs of youth today.
Tragically, youth suicide in Australia is alarmingly high. The Facebook group Coming Together to Prevent Youth Suicide was established in June 2012 by two young people in Melbourne after a series of 10 suicides across 3 schools in one region.
Mapuru Community Development Project – Arnhem Land
Habitat for Humanity SA helps people on low incomes into home ownership by bringing together volunteers, donors and suppliers to provide housing at a very low cost. In addition Habitat undertakes community development projects.
Recovery Program
Pathway Community Centre Inc is an initiative of the Clovercrest Baptist Church. The centre provides a wide range of support services to people experiencing personal difficulties and to those in poverty.
Cooking Crew
Time for Kids provides respite care for children whose families are struggling with their care. Funding was sought for a children’s activity based around cooking.
Socialisation Project
The Phoenix Society is a major South Australian provider of employment and training services for people with disabilities with the aim of expanding the range of options and opportunities available to them.
Universal Charitable Fund has provided a grant to assist in the purchase of a barbecue and associated equipment.
This will provide opportunities for people with disabilities to socialise and, for some, also learn skills of cooking, cleaning and serving food.
