“Reducing Avoidable Blindness – One Kampung* at a Time”
The purpose of the project is to demonstrate that avoidable blindness can be significantly reduced in a targeted population in a selected kampung on the island of Lombok, Indonesia, with successes rolled out through a rigorous replication process to other poor Lombok kampung expressing a willingness to partner and contribute in-kind support.

In February 2015, The John Fawcett Foundation applied again to UCF for $2,000 to fund a mobile eye clinic. You can read about their first UCF small grant awarded in February 2014.

Eliminating Avoidable Blindness – One Banjar* at a Time
In 1991, John Fawcett set up in Bali the “Sight Restoration and Blindness Prevention Program”. From its initial decade of success came the establishment of the not-for-profit John Fawcett Foundation (JFF) in March 2000. Its Indonesian arm, Yayasan Kemanusiaan Indonesia (YKI), was established in November 2001.

JFF/YKI’s mission is to relieve sickness, suffering and distress in poor and remote families in Indonesia free of charge and without religious, political or ethnic consideration.

Tutti Ensemble Inc.

Begun in 2004, the Performing Arts program is one of Tutti’s core programs and involves 16 young adults with intellectual disability working three days a week with professional artists to develop their voice, movement and drama skills. Together they form our Performing Arts Ensemble which has produced two original works and been involved in collaborations with State Opera, Cirkidz and other Adelaide companies. The aim of this program is to develop professional pathways for the performers involved, and some are already sought after as singers, actors and movement artists.

A growing focus of Tutti’s  programmes is to increase the physical activity of participants.

Australia HOPE International

HOPE Schools Projects: 40 desks – East Africa
Australia HOPE International was begun in 2003 by Bill and Norma Osborne to help educate orphans and children in need.

Their application was for HOPE schools projects: three of the schools urgently needed desks which would be made by local carpenters and labourers in just one month once the funds were received and the wood purchased.

Forty desks will be made. Each desk can seat 3-5 children and will get them off the dirt floor and give the children something to write on as well as providing a better learning environment.

Freezer for Emergency Food – Adelaide
Work Injured Resource Connection (WIRC) began in 1996 when the founding members gathered to discuss their common experiences and difficulties with the South Australian WorkCover system. It was begun with the aim of providing injured workers with information, knowledge and support as they attempted to regain control of their lives, and understand the system in which they found themselves trapped.

The Bags of Love Emergency Relief project was given this name to reflect what is very much required by many work injured South Australians.

Training Online Support for Youth Suicide Intervention – Adelaide
In 2 Life have been established since 2001 and have over twelve years experience in the youth sector. They have a strong track record in the creation and delivery of programs that support marginalised youth in Australia. Their staff and volunteers are very experienced in youth issues and the needs of youth today.

Tragically, youth suicide in Australia is alarmingly high. The Facebook group Coming Together to Prevent Youth Suicide was established in June 2012 by two young people in Melbourne after a series of 10 suicides across 3 schools in one region.

Asbestos Diseases Society of South Australia (ADSSA)

Asbestos Awareness Training – Adelaide
ADSSA was incorporated in 2005 to look after the needs of victims of Asbestos Related Diseases (ARDs).  ADSSA employs a Social Worker on a part time basis to look after the needs of victims, their families, carers, relatives etc.

It has, in recent years, embarked on Asbestos Awareness Training to all people in South Australia – conducting workshops in businesses, clubs, social groups and for home renovators.
